Based on data from the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), Indonesia and Malaysia are the largest palm oil producers in the world. USDA projects that Indonesia’s CPO production could reach 45.5 million metric tons (MT) in the 2022/2023 period, and Malaysia’s CPO production at 18.8 million MT. The largest palm oil producing province is Riau, with a production volume of around 8.9 million tons.
We – PT Empat Anugerah Syukur – which is domiciled in Pekanbaru, Riau Indonesia, manage oil palm harvest waste, in the form of palm leaf fronds and we process them into sticks.
Apart from being used as cleaning equipment (brooms), these sticks can also be used as a basic material for making environmentally friendly recycled paper, basic material for panel boards, or woven into plates/baskets (for handicrafts).
Processing palm frond leaves into sticks requires a long process and uses human labor. The leaf midribs that we produce must have special criteria, so that they produce flexible sticks, with a minimum length of 85cm, which will produce yellowish/greenish sticks (not brown or even black)
In terms of employing human workers who are mothers, we really pay attention to and support the SDGs. We work with individual oil palm land owners and local residents to ensure the quality of the sticks, the continuity of cooperation, and also a decent income for the workers. We do not reduce labor wages, but rather make work flow efficient.
